Google Pixel 7/8/Fold
Preymaker - Head of CG - CG Lead - Maya / Arnold / Nuke
Lighting, FX, rendering, Nuke Setup
Our brief was to create hundreds of Google Pixel 7/8, Watch, Tablet, and Fold shots through a fast-moving commercial pipeline without crushing the render farm. To do that, we shifted everything that could be tweaked later (device color, screen graphics) out of Arnold and into Nuke.
That choice raised the bar for the CG pass: every reflection, bounce, and specular highlight had to be store in AOVs cleanly so Nuke could recolor them with zero fidelity loss. We also engineered a new UV system for the screens that preserved both the reflections and refractions generated in Arnold but let us re-render the content in Nuke.
The result? We could swap screen content or tweak device colors right up to final delivery without re-queueing hundreds of Arnold frames, yet still deliver the same high end image quality.
